Strategic Silence over genocide of Palestinians: New Fronts and the Grand Strategy

Must read

At this moment, the entire world’s attention is focused on the war in Iran and the Middle East, the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict, the oil and gas crises, electricity shortages, and the looming threat of famine and widespread chaos. Yet during all this, Israel is quietly carrying out one dangerous operation after another, opening new fronts while almost the entire human race has been plunged into a state of heedlessness, simply because people have been entangled and trapped in their own localized crises and conflicts.

On one side, for the first time in recent history, Masjid al-Aqsa was shut down during the holy month of Ramazan, to the extent that even Eid prayers were not allowed to be offered there. The kind of reaction that should have emerged from the Muslim world was, sadly, nowhere to be found, and how could it come, when they have all been lined up against one another in wars and fratricidal conflicts?

On the other side, measures against the Palestinians have been intensified to such an extent that they amount to open genocide. Tens of thousands of Palestinians remain imprisoned in Israeli jails, and there are now dangerous plans to carry out their mass execution under the guise of “capital punishment.

It is for this very reason that on March 30, the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, passed a shocking law under which Palestinians can be sentenced to death under various allegations. This bill, passed by a margin of 62 to 48 votes, received the open patronage of Netanyahu and the extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, both of whom celebrated openly following its approval. Under this law, the death penalty has been made effectively mandatory, meaning that judgments will essentially be based upon Muslim and Palestinian identity itself.

Even at the global level, Amnesty International and several European countries condemned this “black law.” Consider the irony of history,  the very Israeli state that last executed a human being in 1962, the Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann for the crimes of Adolf Hitler, is today turning that same punishment into a weapon against an entire nation.

Meanwhile, Israel is also advancing into southern Lebanon, expanding its occupation over numerous areas, which has resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people from their homes. All of this is being done to bring the project of “Greater Israel” into practical reality.

None of this appears to be merely isolated legislation or routine military operations. Rather, it feels like a meticulously organized grand strategy in which attacks, land seizures, and the use of overwhelming force are being employed to suppress, crush, dominate, and ultimately seize control over the Middle East and the Muslim world.
