New Delhi: On Sunday, April 20, 2025, history enthusiasts and scholars will witness a national history conference that promises to shed new light on Delhi’s pivotal role in the development of Indo-Islamic civilization. Hosted by the Department of Islamic Studies at Jamia Hamdard University in collaboration with the Institute of Study and Research Delhi (ISRD), this one-day event will delve into the dynamic cultural exchange between Islam and India during the medieval period.

The conference is poised to explore the transformative impact of Islamic heritage on India’s culture, society, and governance, with a special focus on Delhi as the epicentre of this cultural transformation.

The conference Organiser Mohammad Asif Iqbal informed that in a series of illuminating sessions, scholars and researchers will present thought-provoking papers on several sub-themes tied to the overarching theme of ‘Delhi: Crucible of Indo-Islamic Synthesis’. Some of the most intriguing topics include:

The Conference Organizer emphasized the incredible exchange of ideas and culture that occurred between India and Islam, asserting that when civilizations meet, the results are transformative and mutually enriching. “Islam brought a treasure trove of cultural practices, traditions, and knowledge to India. At the same time, Muslims were deeply influenced by India’s heritage,” he said.

Asif Iqbal highlighted the undeniable contributions of Muslims to India’s development, pointing out that this conference is a major effort to spotlight those contributions across history, art, architecture, and culture.
